GETTING UP TO SPEED

CHALLENGE 01: DEALING WITH SCALE AND SPEED
The Charge: How do we build awareness of the issues and understand the consequential impacts? How do we mobilize effective support and action?

CHALLENGE 02: FUTURING THE CITY
The Charge: What will our cities be like? What could be the response in shape and form?

CHALLENGE 03: HOUSING US ALL
The Charge: How will we all live? How do we build enough to accommodate growth? What will housing look like?

CHALLENGE 04: LIVING TOGETHER
The Charge: How will we get along with each other? How can we maintain a civil society in the face of increased density and congestion?

CHALLENGE 05: BUILDING AWARENESS
The Charge: How can we spread the word about the issues? How can we mobilize effective support and action?

TESTING WITH REALITY: WHAT IS BEING DONE?
How are those concerned with development responding?

NOW GO & SEE: EXPLORE THE REAL THING (2 weeks in early June, tentative)
Explore and understand the peripheral boom in a Third World city. Compare the reality with your explorations. [The field survey is in addition to the Spring Course and is offered as a special activity.]
